Can I have car insurance with two different companies?
My mom has car insurance with Geico and she has two cars insured with them. If she bought a 3rd car, can she get it insured with another insurance agency and still keep her other two cars insured with Geico????

Yes she can.
Lawfully, yes. But normally the insurance companies won’t let you.
Yeah you can do that…the other insurance company doesn’t necessarily to know that you have a third car, however it might become a hassle having to pay two separate insurance notes. In my experience Geico is more expensive than other companies when it comes to adding a 3rd car, so be on the look out for cheaper rates.
Yes, she can do that. However, if she has the same car insured with two different companies is when you run into problems.
Yes but be careful…her newly aquired car coverage and others may be affected if she does this.
No, because one insurance will always be primary. I assume the third vehicle is for you. It sounds like she bought you a car but wants you to have your own policy so it doesn’t affect her. Your mom can purchase you your own spinoff policy with you as the primary driver, and exclude you from her other two vehicles…this means you can’t drive the others.
I think she would be better off sticking with Geico. Most insurance companies offers a discount for multiple cars. Get some quotes from on the 3rd car, then call Geico and compare the rates.
